PayPal Malfunctioning
My Store is not accepting Paypal Payments , From a Club Member ( anothersharpedge ) Could I Get A Some Help , Admin ? To Smooth The Problem Between Us Here !
Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
I mentioned this very same issue about 12 months ago. I could not complete a purchase using pay pal with a seller i had bought from before 3 times without an issue. It has happened to me twice since with another 2 sellers. I suspect Pay Pal may be moving away from having any thing to do with selling any sort of weapon or anything else they deem to be politically incorrect. They will deny this but i wasted 3 days of my life trying to get an answer from them why all of a sudden i could not complete purchases for cutlery, before they just stopped all contact.KleenCut61 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 11:36 pm My Store is not accepting Paypal Payments , From a Club Member ( anothersharpedge ) Could I Get A Some Help , Admin ? Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
That's odd. Last night I was able to complete a purchase using PayPal with no issues. In my case, the problem was when trying to use my credit card.

Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
I have been able to complete 2 purchases, but have not been able to complete 3 in the last 12 months. My way of thinking is that they are going to stop sales over time bit by bit, not just stop all sales straight away. I have no proof of this, but when they scout around the issue and won't answer questions directly something is happening. And don't under estimate how these companies want to appear to be all woke.
Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
Seems there's getting to be a file of circumstantial evidence of that. The system's inability (refusal?) to accept my credit card is more baffling to me. I do suppose if they want to play that silly game, we can go back to money orders and personal checks.

Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
I had a payment held up for a couple of days last week. I told the customer that it could be that he performed the transaction on a different device and that could have been the issue. It turns out he did buy from his phone, which he hadn’t used for a purchase before. That seems to have been the issue and I think PayPal confirmed that.
It’s an inconvenience but I do appreciate when the companies handling my money take precautions against fraud and theft.
My credit card company froze my card while I was in Atlanta 2 years ago for a board meeting. I had just signed up for Uber and Lyft and used my card down there in Atlanta to pay for a ride. When I went to get a ride arranged to go back to my hotel, the card was frozen. This kind of purchase was way out of the norm for me and they flagged it. It was inconvenient but it all worked out. Again, I don’t begrudge the people handling my money being cautious.

Hey Joe,
On your Payment Setting's page, you have a space in your PayPal account email. Can you visit that page & make sure that your PayPal email address is correct?...

Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
I had money in pay pal, they transferred that money to my checking account. Now when I sell a knife eBay wants me to send confirmation numbers when I send it and then I have to wait about three days and then they put the money in my checking account.
Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
I have used the same computer for every purchase i have made with pay pal or with a company directly, same email same details about everything. I understand and appreciate the fraud issue, but when pay pal won't answer a direct question and keeps stalling the issue, something is happening. I feel we are getting off the issue of the original post though, i just wanted to let the original poster know of my experience over the last 12 months and my thoughts. He may have a completely different issue.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 1:09 am I had a payment held up for a couple of days last week. Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
I wonder if some of you are using a VPN. Sometimes, the system won't recognize the IP address and stop the process. It does this because it deems the unfamiliar address as a breach or security threat.
Not saying that's the problem here but it could be.

I myself use a VPN (Proton), and every once 'n awhile, I'll get blocked by websites. Happened to me 1 time, quite awhile ago, trying to access AAPK. Bryan's security software picked up it was a funny ISPN, so it blocked it.
Oh well, no biggie, thou Lee Valley picks it up every time.
In this day and age, one must use as many layers of security as you can. Online crime is getting more and more sophisticated every day. Eventually, everyone will have no choice, but to get "enterprise grade" security software, or be wiped out online.
And yes, your run of the mill norton/avast/regular "antivirus", is almost to the point of uselessness... Doesn't do shirt to stop most of 'em.
Oh yes, most of you probably didn't hear the huge news in tech, this year...
Microsoft's exchange servers (the system many businesses use, myself included) have been successfully hacked out by China.
It's even worse then last years massive government breach.
And it's still ongoing...
So always, always, always do your daily security updates, and don't just rely on the inbuilt "security". Even a free antivirus is better then Microsoft's own...

If you can recall & have the time, could you send me a link to item(s) or sellers who you've tried to buy from & was unable? I'd like to investigate a bit & see if I can find a problem on AAPK's end or one ore more specific seller accounts.
Private message or email bryan@allaboutpocketknives.com
Many Thanks,
Bryan
Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
Hi Dan,
Is this happening when you put your credit card info into PayPal or directly on the AAPK site?
If directly on the AAPK site, hoping you can send me seller's info so I can look into their account in case of a config problem.
PM or email would be great. (Email address posted above)
Thanks,
Bryan
Re: PayPal Malfunctioning
I had my first issue recently after having used paypal for many years to buy and sell knives. Lately I've been purchasing ww2 theater knives on EBAY, without any problems, then when I tried to pay for my latest knife the transaction stalled. I contacted Paypal and explained my problem. A very pleasant customer service person asked what I was trying to buy. I told her it is a collectable knife from ww2 and that I had been buying and selling knives for years and this never happened before. She could not give me a direct answer why this happened, but suggested I keep trying and that if it still did not work I would need to find a different way to pay for the item. I waited about 10 minutes and tried again and the payment went through.
So given my experience and that of others related here I would tend to agree that Paypal may be tighting their restrictions on certain items i.e. prohibited offensive weapons. A couple things a I wonder about is whether or not after talking to me the customer service rep had any authority to release the payment and also since the knife which was blocked was described as a dagger and none of the other knives used this term, could that have been what triggered the block? I think the term dagger is used in some prohibitive offensive weapons laws. Something to consider when describing knives for sale.

I want to know how you spoke to an actual person. That is impossible here.knfpkr15 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 5:31 pm I had my first issue recently after having used paypal for many years to buy and sell knives.
