Anybody have any info at all on this knife? I got in a group of knives purchased from a seller here on aapk .
It has stacked leather handle with stag pommel. 5-1/8” blade 9-1/4” overall.
It’s very clearly marked F.R. Sweet. And that’s the only mark on it. I’m going to take a WAG and say it’s English. Just had that look to me
I have come up with zero info from online searches

I have never seen this marking before. Looks to be a well made knife. Could it be a custom made knife ?

Anything stamped on the otherside of the tang? This mark is on what would be considered the back of the tang.

Being it is marked on the pile side the F.R. Sweet might be a personalization for an individual rather than a company that made or marketed it. Does look like the Wade and Butcher hunters from Engalnd.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Yes. It’s very well made and it’s in really nice condition. This is also a fairly old knife, I’d guess 20’s Thru 40’s .I give it a thought that it could be custom, but it has that factory made look. Guess it is possibly a custom.kootenay joe wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 3:54 pm I have never seen this marking before. Looks to be a well made knife. Could it be a custom made knife ?

Yeah I noticed it was on the wrong side of where it would typically be stamped. Which is odd. There is nothing on the other side.

I had this thought to. But the stamp is so perfect. Definitely was done before heat treat. Not cold stamped.
It just looks like factory stamp.
Maybe someone worked at a cutlery factory and made his own stamp
