Combo EDC Storage & Accoutrement Box

Post by Papa Bones »

I had an old Rifle & Pistol Cleaning Kit & tools box that I had bought way back in the early 90's. I had later bought a larger box as my tools, & equipment increased. So this one sat neglected for a long while. It got damaged during the move to my current location which was 17 years ago.

So the other day I dug it out, cleaned it up and decided to use it to store my EDC rotation of knives along with some of my knife maintenance items. Lube, cleaners, brushes, cloth ect. Had to repair the lower drawer, and the right side which had been knocked loose. Steel wooled it down, put some touch-up stain, then a few applications of Tung Oil. It's not fancy, but looks good on my desk, and gives me a good location for my EDC knives for the month.

Good setup.
I got a box similar to that one but with two drawers and a shallower top compartment. Been thinking of bagging up the cleaning stuff and doing something similar. Thanks for the inspiration.

Appreciate it Herb. Hope you find one. I want to get some red felt material to line the drawer & tray with. That way it would match the insert inside the lid.

Glennbad, I expect that all of those drawers are completely chock full of gorgeous knives. I will have to show my wife your picture next time she insinuates that I have too many knives in my collection! :D

Found another box over the weeked at a small local Flea Market up the highway from me . It was a shotgun cleaning kit box. Picked it up for $5.00 It still had a couple brushes, and brass rods but was missing the handle. Added those to my other cleaning kit. Cleaned the box up and rubbed it down with some Tung Oil, and put a piece of red craft foam in the bottom. Figured I would make it a Barlow Box. It sits nicely on my other box.
