QUEEN CITY - 1 OF 200 stockman model Q9589

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

QUEEN CITY - 1 OF 200 stockman model Q9589

Post by Gone2Three »

Howdy y'all,
Was hoping to find out more information on this Queen City knife.
Just guessing that it's somewhat recent and not an older production run model...

So was it made prior to the shut down? ...Tried googling it and not much came up ::shrug::

Thanks!

Looks like it was made after Queen closed their doors.

EDIT: Looks like I was wrong. Now that I think about it, these might have been a SFO for Collectorknives.

Nice! ::handshake::
Would you possibly know what other variations were released around then? After digging around I found a dark green bone, same pattern

I found 2 both are the same pattern . One is a Hunter Green Pattern # Q9588 the other is Buffalo Horn Pattern # Q9590. They look to have the same Shield just different Handles ::hmm:: . I will see if there in a Queen Catalog ::shrug:: I have maybe someone has one that can enlighten us ::handshake::

All of those are pretty neat!
I personally like the color of the first one Gone2Three posted.
If the spay blade was longer, those knives would be like the #52 Moose if they are 4.25" closed length.
Queen is an interesting and confusing brand to follow, especially in the latter years of production.

Appreciate you taking the time to look for them and especially posting the pictures ::handshake::
Would be great to find out more about all three of these beautiful knives. The limited edition of 200 is also intresting, are they actually numbered somewhere? ::shrug::
Maybe someone else will have another piece of the puzzle...
Thanks again, I'll be looking forward to hearing more ::tu::

No worries, I was just happy that it wasn't a China made knockoff

One other thing...I'm embarrassed to ask, what's a SFO?

If you contact Mike at Collectorknives.net, you can ask if this run was a SFO for him. Here's the link.

Received this reply from Bob @ Queen Cutlery History...

Hi Randy,

We’ve checked but have found no records of these pattern numbers. The may have been from a special order but we have no way to confirm this.

Best regards,
Bob

My Queen City knife arrived in the mail today, I'm more than pleased with my purchase. The bone is absolutely gorgeous, the sellers pictures were darker and didn't do it justice. Fit and finish is spot on, knife is basically new and never carried.
I'm so glad I took the chance on it ::groove::
