any info on this knife?

Post by terryl308 »

The local va officer has this in his office and wondered if I had any info for him. Took a couple of photos with my phone but dont have much info for you. It looks like a M3 trench knife blade but has a 3 rivet wooden handle which looks like oak. The only marking I can see is a "S" on the tang and it has a black metal sheath with no more markings. I know that's not much to go on but hope someone can give me an educatated guess on what it is? thanks, Terry ::shrug::

Looks like German issued fighting knife (not my area of expertise). Try asking here https://www.facebook.com/groups/1488680011383786/ or here https://www.greatwarforum.org/forum/151 ... r-weapons/

thanks, cottage hill bill, I checked with a military collector at a gun show this weekend and he said he thought it was a ww1 german boot knife, so I think your right on also. They also made the same blade for ww2 but he thought they had bakelite type handle instead of wood. I appreciate your response thanks, Terry ::handshake::
