HANDLE MATERIAL ?

Handle material ? these are on ebay.listed as smooth bone.the one on the left is a I.XL george wostenholm sheffield england.
the other is aglos co. germany.
could the I.XL be ivory ?
i am going to try and buy them.

Need either enlargeable photos or link to the ebay ad, can't tell from your pics. I looked on the bay for it, couldn't find it. It looks kind of modern for an ivory IXL, but close-up pics may tell.

I vote the larger knife is French ivory. I think I've owned a couple of knives with these handles. Unsure on the smaller knife - it maybe the real deal. Aren't these coming from Australia? S&H may be scary?

Now being able to enlarge the photos, I agree the IXL is celluloid, or "French ivory". The scales look like they have shrunk away from the bolsters a little, ivory won't do that, cell will. The little German knife looks like smooth bone.

I agree imitaion ivory on the larger and smooth bone on the little pen knife.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

I agree with Wayne. No ivory on either knife.
