POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
I've always liked medium stockman's ... and of the Case variety, I have always favored the 32, due to it's slimness and pen secondary. I see alot more #18's on the web, so I bet Case makes more of those. I'm curious which of these is preferred on AAPK (I thought we'd keep it to the true medium stockman's - we'll save the venerable #44, 90, 87 & 47 for another poll) ...

#32 pattern for me. The #18 doesn't do anything for me.

Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
Tough, tough, tough!
The medium stockman is my favorite due to size and having three blades.
If I say 32 today, it'll be the 18 tomorrow! And vise-versa.
Put one of each on the table in front me, tell me to take one, and I'll make my decision based on the handle!!
Ergo, I didn't vote.

I like the squared bolsters of the 32.

I've always been fond of the spey blade stockman so have several 18's as my go to's. That would be my choice but I have been giving a 32 some pocket time.

I’ll take the serpentine and rounded bolsters every time. I have several 18’s but nary a single 32.

18 in the pocket is way more comfortable! IMO

Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
I own more of the #18 pattern but voted for #32. I think there are also #18's that would fall somewhere in the middle, with pen blades instead of the spey.
Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
I'm not that crazy about the smaller stockman patterns, but the 47, 92, and 75 are my favorites. The last one is a 99. I know, it's not a stockman, but it is my favorite and I have to show it off.

Of the 32 patterns, I like the 6332 best. Can't beat it.

Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
I voted for the 18 for three reasons: rounded bolsters are easier on pocket fabric, I often find a spey blade's curve useful, but mainly 18s are more common. I've found them with stag I liked and used 18s at bargain prices locally. My first choice is an 18 with the master blade that is less common in recent production 18s. I'll call it a standard clip and the more common clip blade a Turkish clip but I have no confidence that those are correct blade names. Local Ace Hardware Stores stock red 18s with a standard clip master.
I only own one still unused blue bone 32 that I bought only to have a 32 in my collection. I like Stockmans.

Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
I like them both ALOT! But I guess if I had to choose it would be the 32. Slimmer with the pen blade.
Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
I got about 2 dz 18s.. So I will say... 18 !!

Awesome ... I have amassed a fairly decent pile of #32's & only 1 #18. Best part ... it's all good !!

Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
I would have to say the 18, shown are the two I have, a 6318SS pocket worn red bone and a 3318 yellow. As previously mentioned, the rounded bolsters are an important feature. Interesting how the clip master blades are somewhat different on the same pattern.

Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
I love both, but prefer the rounded bolsters and serpentine frame. Just a preference, I would tote either one if I owned them!

Top to bottom, 1971 #6332, 1986 #63032 & 1965 to '69 #6318. I really like the #6318 & the California clip. But with a regular clip, a pen rather than a spey & square bolsters rather than round, I prefer the '32s. The #6332 doesn't appeal to me any more or any less than the #63032 because of being slimmer but I do like the half stop on each blade plus this particular '32 has pretty stout springs. I like 'em all.

Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
If I were to step up and lay the green down for one of these, it would be the square cornered #32. Aesthetically, it's more appealing to me.

Re: POLL: Case Medium Stockman throw down
Here's the conundrum for me; I think 3 5/8" is the perfect pocket size for a knife . . . HOWEVER, I prefer a -32 pattern knife over an -18 pattern. But a -47 pattern knife is about my most favorite of all time. I seem to have more -47s than anything.

I'll go with the #18 pattern for I believe the round bolsters are more pocket friendly and I like the kaliforia clip main.

In this side by side comparison those square bolsters really appeal. They just have a very “classic” look to them. It's not the size for me; it's blade complement.

I have more 32’s than 18’s but it is a very close call as to which I prefer. 18’s are more pocket
friendly but the 32’s have a better look to them. I voted for the 32’s
