What is that secondary blade ( tool) ? Looks like something I used to have to knock the pins out of my old Remington 1100..lol....doubt they had 1100 back then....anyone tell me what that is for?

Looks like the main blade, ground down to nothing ?

Looks like someone altered it for a specific purpose. Maybe it was made that way. Cool either way.

Might be a type setter's knife.

Here is a type setters blade on this whittler.
Different brands are probably similar but probably not the same.

I honestly don't think that's a factory blade. I've never seen in person or in print anything like that from Ulster. Most likely it was ground down in the knife (sheepfoot blade?) or it was ground and then put in the knife by a former owner who needed it for a special purpose. Might be for type setting but it seems a little stubby for that. What's the round indentation in the handle?

Ultra-small screwdriver for glasses?

I should have been more precise lol. I meant the circle in the center of the handle in the first picture. Looks like some kind of logo but might also have held a glued shield.

Sorry Eric;I didn't see that before. It looks too shallow to have had a shield on there but it might have been a hot stamped logo.ea42 wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 3:02 amI should have been more precise lol. No problem Ray, I was pretty vague. I was thinking hot stamp myself. A logo might give an indication of what the knife initially was.

Maybe a nutter blade with the business end broken off?
If you enlarge the pic you can see USA at the base of that blade. *If* it's an Ulster blade it would be WWII or later.

Thanks guys for the responses....the indent mentioned appears on both sides....it is a circle inscribed with 3 initials...now pretty worn....I would assume those of the original owner.....according to tang....the last year this model was produced would have been 1946....it is a very Nicely constructed knife....and a pleasure to carry...it is relatively thin and sits nice in your pocket.... looking at the pic of the nutter blade...might be something to that..
