Beating the boredom

today i beat the boredom. bye making a xmas gift for my brother in law.
old file, old copper coin, old piece of beach drift wood.
thank you for looking .at my humble efforts.at knife making.

I like that you left some of the file groves on the blade, it brings out the visual effect of the handle.

thank you dan , i leave some file marks on the blades i make.from seeing a native american knife, made from a file.the man who made it called it beaver tail style.his was hand hammered and ground, mine are power tooled alas. :(

Great job!

I found a quite old (thus decent steel) dull Black Diamond I had in the bottom of one of my tool cabinets (I think I found it on an old, abandoned farm that adjoins ours, and that we leased for a few years; and since the file was dull, I just chucked it into a drawer). It's decently wide and about 18" long, so I should be able to get a decent blade out of it.

Here is todays effort from the spare parts box. i wish i had a forge and anvil here.
but i am doing :( the best i can with what i have.
