Camillus...that appears to be one of the very last ones made by Camillus for Sears.

They made those right up til the early 2000's...probably 1990's to 2000's. They were among the last traditional pocketknives that Sears sold.

I always thought these knives were made for Sears by Imperial. They look exactly like the Frontier brand knives made by Imperial right down to the handle material.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

I don't know either way but I would guess and hope on Camilus. It seems tight to me when all Imperials were always loose.

From 1980's on when Albert Baer acquired Imperial Knife Co, Imperial, Camillus and Schrade all shared work especially on the contract knives. Camillus officially had the Sears contract but some of the knives were made by Schrade or Imperial in whole or part. As far as quality goes there is no difference. The Sears contract included exact specifications for every pattern so the resulting knives were identical. This one could be from the Imperial factory.

Thanks for clarifying kj.

Here is one of the Imperial Frontier branded stockman. I believe they are a Swinden key construction knife.

I thought only the Schrade factory had the fixtures for the Swinden key method.
