Requesting knife pattern name.
I have looked in ALL of my books and I can not find a name for this pattern.
I have seen pictures with similar patterns before, but I do not remember where.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does it open up and are there any more blades in it? Looks like a type of manicure tool.

Re: Requesting knife pattern name.
Depending on how it operates it could be either a lobster or a butterfly knife.

Re: Requesting knife pattern name.
Here are a couple more pictures that was sent to me.
I do not own this knife. The owner informed me that she could not "open" the knife for fear of breaking. Apparently it's rusted shut.
Balisong and Lobster are a very good descriptions, however all the balisong's I've seen open up to display only one blade within the enclosure and not on the exterior handles?
If I can have it sent to me and get it opened than the inside may be a surprise, perhaps another blade?
It's also only 2 and 1/2" closed.

Thanks for the information knife-nut. Great suggestion.
Being that there is a nail file on one implement, scissors ✂ hiding within sounds like a safe bet.

Re: Requesting knife pattern name.
I have a couple of these and as Ray said above, there are scissors on the inside in addition to a pen blade in one handle and a manicure blade in the other.
Scissors are quite stout and capable. Handles are either ivory or pearl on the examples i have seen.
Mine have no markings on blades or scissors but i think they were made in either Solingen or Nixdorf. One of my ivory ones has "R.M.S. Mauretania" on the handle so likely bought in the ship's gift shop.
There were 2 R.M.S. Mauretania ships, first one sailed from 1907 to 1935 and could cross the Atlantic with an average speed of 44 mph ! After it was removed from service a second ship of the same name was built and it sailed from 1938 to 1962.
My guess is that my ivory folding scissors are from the first Mauretania.
As these were British ships maybe my folding scissors were made in Sheffield even though i have thought them to be German in origin.
The pattern is "Folding Scissors".

Agree with “Folding Scissors“.
I have one with pearl handles, but it’s scissors only, no secondary blades.
The scissors should be spring loaded, when the latch is disconnected, the handles should spring open a bit.

I always wonder. Keep in mind, they were making these things for a century before the PST came out in 1983.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 2:26 amMight have been the inspiration for thisOld Folder wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 2:19 amThanks for the information knife-nut. Great suggestion.

Yes, that’s what I meant. Those knives inspired the PST, not the other way around.cody6268 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 8:43 pmI always wonder.
