Kane Cutlery/Co/Kane PA
Kane Cutlery/Co/Kane PA
Old 4" Gun Boat Relic. Worn out knife that I could not let lay in the Junk Store. It has very little value, but for some reason I wanted it.

I know what you mean, an old knife with an obscure tang stamp. Great pick up! Been there done that many times.

I really like obscure brands. One, not everyone has them (and around here, everyone's either a Case collector or a Boker collector). Two, they're in rather low demand, meaning they are never faked.
Nice bone!

I don`t think I would have passed that Gunboat up either,A lot of Kane Cutlery Co. knives were made by Case Bros.

I wouldn't have thought twice about rescuing that beauty! The original Kane Cutlery (not the modern Parker revival) operated from 1910 to 1916, so that beauty is at least 103 years old (if my math is correct).

Not a brand name used by Case, although Case Brothers did own it for a time (less than two years) in late 1906 to mid-1908 before selling it to a group of investors.kootenay joe wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 3:14 pm Was Kane Cutlery a manufacturer or a brand name used by Case ?

Kane had a factory and produced knives in Kane, PA which is just a few miles from Bradford, PA and Little Valley, NY. During its short existence Kane Cutlery apparently had continual financial struggles and at least three or four different ownership groups.

Re: Kane Cutlery/Co/Kane PA
Thanks Ken. And people need to realize that the knives marked Kane Kutlery/Germany are from 1980's ? and nothing to do with the real Kane Cutlery.

Correct. I think maybe those from Germany were another of Parker's deals.kootenay joe wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 6:16 pm Thanks Ken. And people need to realize that the knives marked Kane Kutlery/Germany are from 1980's ? and nothing to do with the real Kane Cutlery.
