1902 Thomas Turner Catalog

Post by Owd Wullie »

Found these on the web.

Posted the pics in our gallery but they came out a bit smaller.
Below is a link to the original size. (I think as I'm just now trying out dropbox.com. If it doesn't work, let me know)

Fascinating Willie. Thanks for taking time from your straight razors to post that link. I copied all 40 to my hard drive. Now when I see one of those old timers Dimitri is so in love with, I can look it up and see what it is.

I found this one on sharpening knives very interesting.

Hey Jerry,

I haven't given up on knives. ::tounge::
As a matter of fact, I bought a Miller Bros rope knife on ebay yesterday. The seller didn't know what they had. Got some nice razors out of that mess too looks like.

although I did find that catalog on a razor site of all places..

I'm guessing he thought the rope knife was a straight razor by another mother?

No idea what they were thinking, but the numbers worked out pretty good as far as cost per item in that lot. ;)

Great post Willie! ::tu::
Love looking at the old advertising. Very educational too.

I saw the catalog last night. There's several more on "the other site" in a sticky at the top of the page!
All credit goes to the folks who shared them. Please respect them.

Great link Joe.

I notice several of the contributors there are members here as well.

I found the Turner stuff at a razor forum and it wasn't linked to Mick's site. LOL

I don't know how you do it, but you come up with some of the most interesting and gorgeous old Sheffield stuff.

Thanks for sharing that beauty.

BTW, since I've started shaving with straights, I enjoy the Sheffield blades and American FAR above the German blades. The old Sheffield wedges and quarter hollows are my favorites.

Here's a Thomas Turner I hope you don't mind my sharing. It's not a folder, obviously.
A nice, old knife I like to use in my kitchen.
5 3/4" blade and 9 1/2" overall.

Hi, I wonder if any one can help here. I have come across this pen knife with Turner and co, Encore written on it. Is this a rope knife from the early 1900's.

Thanks doglegg, I've been picking up a few interesting penknives from barn sales over the last year or so. I will post them here, it's great to get an experts opinion.

You just made multiple people laugh in reference to my name and the phrase 'expert'. I am one of them (the laughing ones). I look forward to seeing your pen knives. ::nod:: ::handshake::
