German makers mark
German makers mark
I need help identifying a Makers mark. I’m new to AAPK and so far it’s been one of the best and most informative sights I’ve been on. AAPK reminds me of so many conversations I had with my papa about knives. He was extremely knowledgeable on anything gun or knife related. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I thank you kindly.

Re: German makers mark
The stamp has some similarities to the Eye Brand stamp. The worn condition of the stamp makes it difficult to tell but what looks like rays around what might have been the Eye are reminiscent of an Eye Brand stamp. The border at the outside edge is not found on Eye Brand stamps. So, I have not been much help but that's all I got. Maybe Joe Dobbs (EyeBJoe) will check in in case he might have seen this before.
It wouldn't hurt if you posted a photo of the entire knife.

Re: German makers mark
I collect vintage German knives but i have not seen this logo before. As Ray mentioned, a picture of entire knife would be interesting to see and possibly helpful towards ID.

I, also, have not seen this stamping before. The "rays" emanating from behind the letters are in the same style as the Eye logo but I have no reference material identifying this stamping as a part of Carl Schlieper and Eye Brand knives. I'm guessing that this is a really old Solingen piece.

Bcg, it would be helpful to see a picture of the entire knife, both sides if possible.

Re: German makers mark
Looks like the typical German made hunting knife imported into USA in 1960's. These were made by numerous German knife manufacturers often with parts (blade, handle, guard, etc. purchased from parts manufacturers. Hence many knives with different brandings often resemble each other.
In this case i think the markings are those of a merchant business that ordered their knives from a manufacturer.

I appreciate the information. That’s a lot more than I knew before. Hopefully somebody will recognize the makers mark somewhere done the line. I thank you kindly and God Bless.

Re: German makers mark
The markings are not those of a manufacturer. They are most likely markings of a merchant business. Like knives marked "Sears", Sears did not make any knives, ever. Sears is a merchant marking.
