Caricature owl

Post by Doug51 »

First try. Doug Linker posted a u-tube video on carving this owl. Learned a lot about getting some detail and areas I need to improve on for the next one. Carved with a Flexcut knife

Thanks Steve. Haven't decided yet. I'm not real good at painting but think some color would bring out some detail on it.

Thanks. It started out with a 1 1/4"square by 3" tall basswood block. My next one I'm going to try a 1" square x 2 3/4" or 2 7/8" tall block.

Looks really good! If it were mine I'd spray some shiney sealer on it, already looks like an owl.

I did not know what a Flexcut knife was but I do now ( google search)

It would be interesting to see a sequence of pictures as you carve to a final product.
Keep us posted on your next project.

Cool Doug, you put your previous experience to good use. That is great. Maybe a bigger one next time? ::tu:: ::tu::
