I just rehandled this old Keen Kutter. I believe it's near 100 years old. I've done a lot of research and still have some questions about dating it. I posted my questions in the Keen Kutter knife section, with what I've found in catalogues:

The short story, is the only place I've found one like it, is in the 1917 Simmons catalogue. If anyone can help pinpoint the age better, I'd be interested in any info.
It's huge, at 51/4 inches, closed. The scales were broken on both sides. I didn't want to pull the knife apart, so that I wouldn't mess up the patina of the bolsters. There may be easier ways to do this (remember I'm just learning this stuff)...but here is how I did it...
First, I scanned the knife and confirmed that the printed version was a 1:1 copy. Fortunately it was.
I cut out and poked holes, where the pins were on the photocopy. Then I test fitted the "pattern", to the knife...to make sure the pins aligned properly.
Next: The pattern rests best, on the flat side of the bone. Note...this picture is the WRONG way to do it! If you plan to mark and drill from the flat side...you have to turn the pattern over, so you're not looking at the photocopy. Fortunately I noticed the error of my ways, before drilling the holes.
After drilling the holes...there was still a lot of refinement in drilling the pin holes, before the scales would seat all the way down.
