I'm happy with the snap. It is not nearly as strong as a Case Tested XX C61050 Cokebottle for example, but it does snap closed with some noise.

Here is a very nice 431118 with orange camel bone handles which i recently won on ebay for $127. I think this is close to the original price, i.e. not all GEC's sell high on the secondary market.
Of all the single blade knives that GEC has made i think the 4 1/4" #43 is the best one for a user knife. It is big enough but not too big. It's a Great knife !
I'm showing it here with my cocobolo 43. As attractive as the orange camel bone is, the cocobolo makes it look even more classy.

Nice examples Roland. I too believe the 43 to be a great knife. They also had some of the nicest stag GEC has done in a long time.

Thanks Paul. I will look for a stag one. I suspect they are hard to find because owners are keeping them. Great pattern, best stag, why sell it ?

This is my first post here at AAPK and the #97 in Sambar Stag was my first GEC knife that I received only a couple of weeks back. Even though I got in fairly late in the game, I managed to score myself a two-fer of firsts, lol. That 97 stands right now as the prize of my collection and my current favorite overall. I just love the large coke bottle pattern, regardless of manufacturer really, but oh, my sweet #97, it is a truly amazing piece of workmanship. I had such high hopes pinned on my first GEC and especially this pattern and in absolutely no way was I disappointed. The stag is gnarly and well matched. The scales were assembled with unbelievable care it seems because even after going over it with a loupe I couldn't find any defects or micro cracks around the any of pins. This is an absolutely amazing knife and i plan to love and care for it for a long while. It was also a birthday gift so it was just a perfect storm of awesomeness that hit.

I don't buy many GEC's on the secondary market but this 89 whittler popped up the other day with a reasonable BIN so I jumped on it and I am glad I did, very classy knife,

Very fine #89 whittler. Nicest i have seen of this pattern. Some of the early knives (this one is 2009) are among the best of all GEC's to date. There is more Micarta used now and no more ivory or mammoth ? Ahh, that beautiful sleek and suave Stag Whittler reminds us of the 'good ol' daze'.

That is a nice whittler. I had one in 2nd cut stag that I foolishly traded off years ago.

This one showed up a few weeks ago. Wonderful fit and finish, good walk and talk, 5ish pull. That shield. ::drool:: ::drool:: ::drool::
This 85 came in just before on trade. Completes my set of stag 85s from 11/12. Spear pen, spear awl and clip pen.

Great Folding Hunter and love the 85. Maybe one day GEC will do a Spear & Manicure blade combo. A stout manicure with a bit of aggressive file pattern is useful for torn fingernails and filing non body parts as well.

I just bought this GEC#12 Sambar Stag from KnivesShippedFree. Every dealer sold out in hours ,except for Traditional Pocket Knives. TPK was late posting there knives , so they have 5 left un-sold. More dealers will be receiving their Sambar toothpicks Saturday or next week. So don't give up. I own the only phat one that I have seen so far. This knife was made just for one arm me.

Got 4 yesterday. Awabi Lady’s Leg, Pearl Gent’s, Kingwood Cattle knife, and Sambar Stag Toothpick.
KJ sold me all but the toothpick. Beautiful knives all.

It’s pretty amazing to hold, just solid as a rock and fit and finish is amazing.
