New guy / Old knives
New guy / Old knives
Hello everyone
First time post here.
This past winter I went searching for some bayonets to go with my military rifles and along the way I got hooked on the folders and fix blades.
I have acquired a certain liking to the TL-29 pattern and picked a few to checkout the various differences offered.
Now my question, I came across one that only has a symbol making on blade tang, no other markings or stamps anywhere else but it's only in stage 2 of the cleanup process but pretty certain there no other identifiers. I've found some info that it is an Olsen brand mark or signifies the word "OK" as was supposedly used by Olsen, others have said its a Ontario Knife brand
Any opinions on which company made this knife ?

Knice group you have there. All knives are OK with me so I guess I can't help with the tang stamp. But welcome, I bet someone will be along shortly that will have the answer. Some of the blade smiths on here do some awesome customizing of the 29's.

I have an older Ontario Knife company electricians knife with the exact same tang mark.
I believe Olsen Knife produced fixed blade hunting knives primarily but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone who knows that specific tang mark will be along soon.

Welcome torizus! Nice pile of TL-29s! It seems TL-29s are your thing, so if you haven’t done so already, check out the ones here. Here’s a link to one thread, to get you started. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2659
BTW I’ve seen that stamp before but I can’t recall who is the maker, so I’m of no help.

Ontario Knife used that mark on some military knives (like this TL-29 in the 1980s. They also made them for Queen.

Here's an old post that gives some details about it. According to this they were both owned by the same parent company, Servotronics. viewtopic.php?f=61&t=16864&hilit=Ontari ... 15#p147862cody6268 wrote:Thanks. As best I can determine Servotronics still owns Ontario knife. Maybe someone else has more recent info.

Sweet collection!
Nothing to add to the knowledge thrown out there already (great bunch of folks who really know their stuff), so I'll just say welcome!

Here’s a different model pocket knife with the same tang mark and some identifying blade etching (from e-bay):

No help, I’m afraid, but I did want to say welcome! This place rocks! You won’t find a nicer bunch of guys, or a more informative one. If you throw them something they don’t know, they’ll go look it up to satisfy their own curiosity.

Your knives rock man!
Like zoogirl said, great place to hang around. Even if you don't really collect knives the boys on here are great.
This is what blogging is about.
Hope you have a ball.

to AAPK, torizus. Those old TL-29 type knives are real work horses! They are the basis for some beautiful modified knives, too!
