sorry, got the captions in the wrong order.
Re: My swithblade collection
Thanks for sharing !! You have a nice automatic collection, a lot of valuable old knives there. I hope I don't sound like a bummer, but I wanted to offer a suggestion. I only collect automatic knives and have learned the HARD way, the best way to store automatic knives is in the open position. Stored automatics closed puts unnecessary strain on the spring, always being in the "tense" position. This rule does not apply to OTF autos because there is a spring both ways so there will always be a spring in the tense position. I just thought I would put it out there for you and if it helped. Thanks for showing some nice knives. Maybe you can post some close ups later as time goes by. Thanks Nick

I have made thousands of springs, and I have repaired ten of thousands of switchblades.
Storing them closed does no harm at all.

That's good to know. I've been storing mine in the open position and it takes up more room.Bill DeShivs wrote:I have made thousands of springs, and I have repaired ten of thousands of switchblades.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Great collection! Thanks for showing.
Re: My swithblade collection
Hi men-
I wanted to share how I store my autos and show some of my collection to you all. These are all in drawers and I slide them in and out of my safe, I just use for knives. I have nothing but respect for Mr. DeShivs, he knows a lot more about knives than I do. This is just how I choose to store, I learned from an old timer, he started me doing it and it made sense. We can agree to disagree, but in all humility, Bill is more likely correct than I am- thanks for letting me share - hope I have some knives you appreciate. These are all my Hunters and Scouts- maybe we can start a new thread- “My knife collection” and we can show off our collections in groups to each other ??
Thanks men
