What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Thanks Cal, it was out of mine also but he took a reasonable offer making it a little easier.

Thank you Chris, Cal, Ralph, I've been pretty lucky lately with Schrade's, love the bone and quality construction of these old Schrade's.

Sure wish someone could do bone like this again.

Not quite as old... a Schrade Walden 896K (not uncommon, but is my first)... just can't resist those Butter & Molasses handles...
seller claimed it is lightly used... but when I received it yesterday... I didn't find any signs of use... no scratches on the blades and definitely still has the original factory edge.

[Edit: Thanks to Cal setting me straight I corrected the typo I made on the pattern number from 894K to 896K]
'til later....

Great looking knife and congrats on the pick up...I wondered who outbid me on that one. ::tu::

Sorry about that... but being the first time I found one before the price was thru the roof... I just had to go for it...

KAW don't blame you at all for outbidding me...that is a particularly nice slenderino. As to the 8OT, while it seems to be a popular pattern among most collectors, that one is only the 2nd one in my collection.

I got this one for Christmas, a Schrade Walden SS700 melon tester, looks to be from the '60s, excellent condition.

I like those melon testers, too. They are handy around most fruit, and oh so cute. ::tu::
