The Other Brands

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Thank you, Greg.
As I said, It's in decent shape but it really isn't much of a knife. The guard is aluminum and it weighs next to nothing.
I wouldn't want to have to rely on it too much. :)

I discover McGrew a small Ark knife company had Callimus as a supplier for their pocket knifes.

McGrew was a pawn shop that had their own brand made by Camillus (for one. May have been others too.)

Here is an old Gamble Stores stockman, made by Camillus between 1940 and 1950, I believe. I am in the process of repairing this knife (you can see the broken punch), and took these photos before I disassembled it.

Others have already shown their Camco knives, but I thought this little 3” Jack is pretty. I did not get all of the pitting off of the blades, but hand-sanded as much as I could.
I had planned on giving it to my brother for his birthday tomorrow (after a warning about the celluloid handles), but I have the flu now and don’t want to pass that along, too.

Just picked up 4, new in the box McGrew Knife Company 3 blades manufactured by Camillus as part of a huge estate purchase. These are the Camillus 72 style. I understand they're not worth a lot, but thought I'd share with other Camillus collectors.

Thanks. I'm just beginning to touch the tip of the iceberg as far as this purchase is concerned. Already found several other Camillus and will show them off soon also.

WOW !!! to the above Stainless Cutlery Co. knife. What a Great knife to own.
My contributions are rather plain by comparison.
Cold Steel Muskrat Bird knife with "Carbon V" steel. As i understand it "Carbon V" is the same 1095 steel that Camillus used for it's own knives ? i.e. there is no functional difference between this Cold Steel knife and the same pattern branded "Camillus" ?
I have read that some people will pay 'extra' for a Cold Steel Carbon V knife. Does this apply to all "Carbon V" knives ? or are there tactical style Carbon V that get higher prices ?
My other knife is The Real McCoy", "The McCoy Classic", aka "Dixie", tang is marked "MT. IDA/Arkansas", jigged Delrin, 3 3/8", a 3 spring slender junior Stockman, with blades that look more stamped out than ground. The best thing about this knife is the wood box. I wonder if Camillus subcontracted the "Real McCoy" knives to Imperial ? Or, when did the "Camco" line end ? This knife does not show the expected Camillus level of workmanship/finish.

I added this one to my collection today. A three inch single blade easy open Jack made by Syracuse Knife Company. The tang stamp has the arched "Syracuse" over Straight line Knife Company, over Syracuse N.Y. From my research this stamp was from 1935-1940, and was produced by Camillus. This one has some wear, but the blade is tight, has great snap and solid half stop.

That's a nice score! I've been gravitating more to Camillus and their "other" brands as of late. That's a cool knife!

Thanks Phil. I am really fond of the Camillus brands and like yourself, have been looking more for some of their other brands.

I bought a pocket knife from a seller. The tracking said it was delivered today. A pocket knife WAS delivered today from that particular seller. It was the wrong pocket knife. I received this SYRACUSE KNIFE CO.,USA, 3 blade stockman instead of the pocket knife that I bought. I contacted the seller and he said that he realized his mistake and that the pocket knife that I bought has been sent. He told me to go ahead and keep this knife as well. So, the only SYRACUSE KNIFE CO. pocket knife that I own, came to me by accident. I gave it a cleaning. I took a few pictures and here it is.

Lots of appeal in your knife Skip as also with vit's knives.

This old Cold Steel Trapper arrived years ago as the sharpest folder I had encountered.
