Unpacking.....

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Unpacking.....

Post by espn77 »

I'm going to take a page out of John's book and show off my collection as I unpack as I have recently moved and trying to set up my new knife room.

Thanks guys. All the display cases and knives are Remingtons. Except 10 case knives. This is the biggest area I've ever had to be able to have my stuff in. Everything will be able to be on display.

Lucky guy to have that collection. Also lucky guy to have a special clean place to display and store
your collection. Of course, we are lucky enough to see your upcoming room.

That is going to be neat when it is all set up. Are you making it like an old knife retail store with an OLD cash register on the counter and signage on the walls?

I agree with Rogers statement on the prior page Keith. I would call it "Fun," not work.

I have some signage and oddball stuff. Remington did make a cash register, mostly wooden ones. The ones I've seen have only been on Ebay and the owner seems to think they are highly valuable, I don't. Shipping them normally makes them way to expensive.

Thanks Jerry. I got that from Wayne. It's kind of a cool piece. That pad folds in half and snaps together like a book. I assume it's a salesman piece that they would have full of pairing knives and lay out to show the different styles to to hardware store owner.
