Re: Gunstock
DLT says they will get theirs early next week. CK.net has not emailed anything about my reserve so they're not out yet. Could be Monday though . Keep an eye out.kootenay joe wrote:GEC website says the Stag 44's are finished, but i cannot find any at the dealers. Not there yet ? or, all sold out ?

Re: Gunstock
I am interested in a Stag 44 but want to see both sides plus a picture showing handle thickness before buying it. I think these will be like a mammoth release: jump in, grab one, check out. That's no way to buy a knife (L.Cohen). Maybe the days of carefully selecting just the right one are over. I remember 'sleeping on it' and making my decision in the morning. Knife was still there.
Now most likely it will be scramble with bots and then bargain with flippers. I am lucky i got some nice ones way back when the pickens was easy.

Re: Gunstock
I have a feeling that the dealers won't even bother to take multiple pictures of each knife. They probably realize they can sell them out without going through the trouble.kootenay joe wrote:I am interested in a Stag 44 but want to see both sides plus a picture showing handle thickness before buying it.

Re: Gunstock
I agree the GEC dealers could sell out a Stag GEC knife with only pictures of mark side. However some of the customers would be disappointed with the knife received and dealers know that a disappointed customer rarely returns. This is why i think most dealers will show 3 pictures for stag or mammoth knives ( both sides plus spine view to show thickness).

The stag 44's are trickling in and flying off the shelves. The Knife Connection had some today.

Which one looks 'The Best' ?

Re: Gunstock
Roland all of them feel similar in hand. The Ebony prototype has the satin finish on the blade and is just a striking classic to me. I have two more stags on the way so I'm hoping I hit a real stunner with one of them. All of them are great knives so far, fit and finish, balance, blade pull and snap.

Re: Gunstock
I picked up my #44 with Autumn Gold Jigged Bone and satin blade finish. This is my 3rd #44. I have never before bought multiples of the same pattern. I think hanging around here has affected me. My other 2 are a Tidiote with Gabon Ebony and a Northfield with Cocobolo Wood.
GEC did a very fine job with these 44's. All 3 of mine are 'right on' and others who have posted here report the same. Very impressive. Thank you GEC !
Which do i prefer ? They really all are equally appealing. If i had to select one: perhaps the Cocobolo. It is very elegant.

Re: Gunstock
Kj you are correct. They are all beautiful knives beautifully made. Still waiting on two more stags, perhaps I'll sell the other two if one wins my heart ,or maybe not.

Re: Gunstock
finally here. I've been thinking for a while now, there can't be many makers doing a better job with Sambar Stag than GEC does.

Re: Gunstock
Wow! Everybody’s 44’s are looking great! I have to imagine that this pattern for GEC will definitely become a favorite. I have the goldenrod jigged bone and just got this recently. It’s my first stag and I really dig it.
