Getting some of the most interesting colors on this 43's blade...
Everything's better with a Barlow
Re: Show off your favorite GECs!
Great blue color there Bomba, what do you cut to get that hue? Looks cool. Chalky blue I like.

I have shown this one previously but here it is again to compare with the full flat grind on ivoryman's #85.

Re: Show off your favorite GECs!
I started noticing that deep indigo/blue gradient all on the blade the week I happened to be eating a lot of..lasagne. I'm thinking the citric acid from the tomato had a little something to do with it but I wonder if the cheese and grease might have reacted with some parts of it - there are some faint oranges and even a reddish hue in some areas of the blade that are hard to pick up in pics. My 81 is a NF with the same steel and polish but it hasn't gotten all psychedelic for me like this has.Ivoryman wrote:Great blue color there Bomba, what do you cut to get that hue? Looks cool. I do wish GEC would run more of those fat saber grind spears (or maybe Wharnies - HINT HINT) without giving it the full Northfield treatment which often runs itself right out of my price range. Can't we get a blue camel bone 85 with a stout saber-ground spear? Heck I'll go for that sweet autumn bone KJ has. Christmas will be here before you know it, GEC!kootenay joe wrote:I have shown this one previously but here it is again to compare with the full flat grind on ivoryman's #85.

Welcome Travis. Good looking 43 which is a great knife, but, do you have any others ? You do need a few GEC's. Some of us (not me of course) have a few GEC's, like 50, or 75, you know, a few. Over 100 is a "lotta" GEC's.

I'm just getting into Gec's, but am definitely hooked!!!! Currently only have the 43 and a 15 boys knife, but 3 more in the mail as we speak
I will reach the higher amounts soon enough
Ive been through a lot of production knife companies and there's only a couple I've been happy with in regards to fit n finish, Gec being one and for the price and variation of models/handle materials etc, it's an all round win from me.... Look forward to learning more and more and growing the collection

O.K., for now it is a keeper. This was an SFO for Mike Latham. You had to choose when reserving: full flat grind or saber grind. Most chose the FFG.

That's because my listing isn't live yet...it's scheduled to go live on Sunday (although I do have it listed in the "Knives for Sale or Trade" forum here on AAPK just in case a member would rather buy it right away instead of trying to score it for less at auction).

Re: Show off your favorite GECs!
I just started collecting GEC’s last year. Here is the entire collection so far. I have Roland to thank for several of these. Gino for a few and Randy for the red TC Barlow.
Roland has been a big help and I can’t thank him enough, he told me about how the early reserves work and that has paid off nicely. Really satisfied w/ the quality and classic tradition of these pocket knives.

Re: Show off your favorite GECs!
Wow, for one year of GEC collecting you have done very well. GEC keeps turning out great patterns, superbly executed so many of us have trouble not continuing to buy more. Likely Ssk you will have a few more by the end of 2019. Choose carefully because one of every variation of every release would be rather expensive.
