Another old used Queen, a real prize to me

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

Another old used Queen, a real prize to me

Post by treefarmer »

I always enjoy each new acquisition no mater if it is NIB or just new to me, but honestly I enjoy most of all, the older ones that can be cleaned up a bit, sharpened, fondled and actually carried and used.
Today such a Queen was in our mailbox. This one really rings my bell! I've cleaned it a bit with Mothers and touched the blades up and am pleased beyond measure. It is a real HOK. It is a Queen #19 ('58-'60) with real Winterbottom bone handles, the blades are not full and the clip is a bit short but I can live with this one. It also has the proverbial gator characteristic, snap! It is the result of a trade with member just bob.

Very nice TF! I have a yellow Delrin handled queen with carbon steel blades. I really like it. I think the Queen 19 frame is my favorite Trapper.

Thanks for the kind words concerning this fine old Queen, fellers! ::handshake::
My main knife during deer season has for years been an old #39 with the Imitation Winterbottom handles, when I realized what the real Queen Winterbottom bone was I, as they say in proper circles, smitten.

Amen to liking old knives. I get way more excited finding an old knife that is still in decent shape. Not too many new knives really thrill me. I have a few old Ka-Bars and a few old Case trappers that I really like. That's a nice one. ___Dave
