Where can I pre-order a #46 Whaler?

GEC specializes in highly collectable and premium quality usable pocket knives. The company's USA manufactured knives have quickly proven to be a big hit with both collectors and users who seek quality American craftsmanship.

Larry !!! Thank you!Thank you! Thank you! I got one of those bad boys! ::tu::
Glad I could help. I am new here, and a newby collector. Helping other members out makes forums like this worthwhile. I mostly am collecting stag knives. So, if you know of a GEC #43 in stag or a Whaler in the Desert Ironwood at a decent price, please let me know.:D

I don’t know how this happened but I was on the DLT web page yesterday at lunch time and the # 46 showed up as in stock. I clicked on it and bam it let me pay. Then I get a notification that it has shipped. I thought they were all gone, I can’t believe I got one. I am very excited!!! I guess a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. LOL!

Hey you've got to snag em when you seem with these high demand GEC's. If you stop to think about it you will be left standing at the altar with no knife. Congratulations on being in the right place at the right time. ::tu::

Was it the Muscle Bone or Ironwood handle?

I have been checking the various GEC dealers and have yet to see an available #46 with the M.B. handles. Only about 3 dealers show that they did have a few in stock. Seems as if most dealers have yet to post them. KSF posted the D.I. Whalers on May 7th. I am surprised that they have not posted their M.B. ones. As one of the 2 largest GEC dealers, surely KSF is not last to receive a new run of GEC knives ?

Roland it has been almost 2 months since the last Northwoods release. Might this be the one? If it is they better have some fancy handles, I don't want to see a 46 with OD micarta. ::nod::

Greg, there could be a Northwoods version with Mammoth or Giraffe bone, and i mused about this earlier in this thread. However why would this be holding up KSF from listing the Muscle Bone Whalers ?
KSF is moving in about a week's time(?) Maybe photography set up has been packed already ??
kj
Edit to add: how about a 46 frame as a 4 blade lobster knife, 2 blades top & bottom, with bluish mammoth. Now that would clearly differentiate a Northwoods from a GEC regular run. For 'blades': Clip & spearpoint (or pen) plus awl & scissors or saw blade. What i knife it would be !

That would definitely be a cool knife, but with the size of the knife, using mammoth for handles would probably cost huge dollars!! I would love to see one though. Has anyone ever done a knife this size with ivory handles, and if they did, how much did they originally cost? Thanks.

Is Northwood part of GEC somehow?

Larry the guy that owns Knives Ship Free also owns the Northwoods Brand. He purchased it from Dave Shirley in 2008 and originally had some of the knives made by Queen, but now he contracts the Northwoods knives to GEC so the knives are designed by Derrick Bohn, owner of KSF and made by GEC.

Apparently I lucked out and was part of the first portion of MB Whalers. I got the shipping notification about my knife on Saturday, so I may have it in hand by midweek. ::ds::

Looking forward to getting this big beast. I keep scouring the other dealers looking for one of those "miracle" IW Whaler listings to show available stock (hoping this "split-shipment" thing means more will pop up next week) but so far no luck.

The folks who have received theirs already have raised my expectations quite a bit!

Like I said before, I like to help when I can. Being a newby, I definitely can't give knife advice, so right now, this is the best I can do to contribute to the forum.:) I hope Tony got one. I emailed him too in case he wasn't where he could get on the forum. Maybe everybody else that wanted one had already gotten one.

Well it's greatly appreciated! As hard as it is to nail down these GEC's and Northwoods when they go on sale we need a town crier. ::clapping:: ::clapping::

KSF has now sold out of its second batch of #46 Desert Ironwood. Very strange that they have not received any muscle bone while GP has already sold theirs. ::hmm::

i have been asking the same thing. What do you think could be going on ? Received a batch, found an 'issue' with some and returned batch for 'tune up' ?
Or ??
