snap on pocket knife

Post by familyforge »

Hello fellas,
Wondering if someone has info on 'snap on' pocket knives? I just bought one in a lot on eBay.I Don't have the photos yet but it is one that is probably easy to find photos of. It has black G10 handles with red snap-on logo, a semi-serrated blade with 7Cr17MoV on it and the words Service Model on the skeletonized glossy gray pocket clip with some numbers too small for me to read from the eBay photo. It would seem if there is more than one maker of these, this particular one is a higher end one. Can anyone attest to its maker, its quality, and what it may be worth in dollars in Excellent to mint condition? Any info you can give on this knife will be appreciated. ::tu::

It could be something made by Kershaws factory in China. I think Kershaw has made knives for Snap-On in all three of their factories, Japan, USA & China. It would be impossible to tell whether it was a Kershaw or not without seeing a few pictures.

Thanks, Dale, If I can figure out how to pull the photos from the eBay listing I will post them soon. If not, I will post them when I receive it in a few days.
Thanks again,

There have been many knives with the SnapOn logo. Two of the more common ones are the Kershaw Scallion and Kershaw Leek - both are very good knives. There are many others, including some that are not so good...

From your directions, I'm going to assume it's this one. If so, it's made in China and the value is low.

By the way, there are instructions for copying an image from the Internet to your PC. The thread is in the "Tips & Tricks" forum. Look on the second page. The thread is "How To Copy A Picture From Ebay To Your PC" but it works for other images as well. ---► viewforum.php?f=98

Is this it? Found two models with 7cr17 on the blade with red 'snap on' over black. This one sounded most like it.
Lots of other Snap On knives in the sidebar.
