80T SENIOR....GREEN HANDLES??

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

80T SENIOR....GREEN HANDLES??

Post by Redcrossman »

How is it this knife has green handles, when I can't find anything about it? Read about "special orders", and factory slip-ups, any ideas?

Fun Gus knife. I think the saw cut grooves are providing a home for some saprophytic organisms that get nutrition from organic matter on the surface of the Delrin.

Looked up that big word. I'm really proud of you, you got it exactly right. A little water and Dawn and wallah...it worked, no more green!

Fungus, members of the plant kingdom that cannot make their own food using sunlight water and carbon dioxide. They need to grow on organic matter, either dead, as in those half circle brown things on downed birch trees, or alive, as with thrush, a fungal infection of inside your mouth.
But ya gotta love fungi (plural of fungus). Fungus makes alcohol as it's waste product and we get beer, wine and hard liquor.
I considered using "Juan Fun Guy" as my forum name, implying that i am fun and old (fungus).
This is likely more than you wanted to know. My initial plan in University was to be a botanist, hence i learned a bit about fungi.

Now give it a coding of mineral oil and that will help to remove the discoloration that is still there, and help prevent it from coming back. Another thing I found that helps is Armor All, the kind you use on your car.
