What does CAR mean.
What does CAR mean.
I have done searches and can’t find what the abrieviation meaning for CAR. It’s on the secondary pen blade of my #56 dog leg jack. Reads GEC CAR. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it stands for Carbon.

I think we need a new word to cover steels that will rust more easily than the so called "stainless" steels. We say "carbon" steel, but all steels have some carbon. We can say "not stainless" but that's cumbersome.
So the new word: "stainmore"; it's obvious. Some steels stain less, others stain more. "Stainless" has been in common use for about 90 years, so it is time to speak of all the other steels as being a "stainmore" steel.

Funny, but I was part of the 438th CRS, only that CRS was Component Repair Squadron.
Edit: correction, it was the 435th, not 438th. sad, but it proves my point!
