Case scout knife
Case scout knife
Don't know about the tang stamp but isn't that a glue in shield from a Case Classic knife? Pretty sure the handles aren't original to the knife and the knife isn't worth the asking price?

Re: Case scout knife
Do my eyes deceive me or is that 2 different styles of can opener on there?

Re: Case scout knife
Looks authentic to me but worked on. The profile of the caplifter and punch has been altered. I believe the punch should have a groove in the side with the pull which was ground out. The nail pull for the can opener does not look original and was added. I don't see anything wrong with the shield or handles. Certainly not worth anywhere near the asking price IMO.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Greg,I believe it is a reshaped screwdriver blade. It may be junior scout size.I had a Standard Knife and a Romo Junior scout with that flat nickel silver bail.

Re: Case scout knife
It is a standard size 6445 utility or Scout pattern knife. 3 5/8" closed. The blade configuration, handles and bail are all correct for the knife.

Isn't the shield in the op a glue in? I blew up the picture 200 x and still don't see any indication of pins. If you have picked this up with your naked eye I am very envious.

Re: Case scout knife
On many knives I am unable to see evidence of pins on the surface of the shield, but can see the pins in the inside of the liner. I didn't look at all the pictures of this knife to see if there is an inside view.
Re: Case scout knife
To me it looks like there are pins. One in each end of the shield. There is a slightly darker circular discoloration at each end.

Wayne I see the discoloration. I cropped, enlarged, darkened, increased the contrast, and otherwise highlighted the discoloration that seems to evidence the existence of shield pins.

I for one, am always happy that you have the time to help in editing so many pictures here on AAPK. Thanks!

Re: Case scout knife
Always amazes me these sellers want you to pay $1000 for the knife and expect you to pay for shipping!
