The grind on the tang is off also.

Treejakel, Knife looks okay to me. Maybe someone else can find something wrong.

On the 1970 Muskrat I have,looking from shield side with both blades open,the word MUSKRAT on secondary blade is not showing.

Hi all; the knife is write by me, case made the Muskrat with muskrat on both sides of the blade.
Just because it is sporty's knife doesn't make it wrong!

Thanks for your replies;
The thing that concerned me was the nail nick looked very small compared to others from this era, almost like the blade was heavily cleaned and buffed to a point where the profile of the nick was ground down. The tang on the opposite blade looks like it too was ground and where the tang meets the blade there appears to be another "line". I am a newbie so I'll just have to take your word for it, thanks.

It's authentic but it may have been cleaned/buffed. With Sporty it is always hard to tell, even though he says it is "mint".

I don"post often, but on 10 dot 1970 I take a closer watch, good knife. it has been polished as Steve said
It is a real knife, I have them both ways, as well as most 10 dot knives!
