Glad you finally capitulated, Jerry. The two-blade 78s are really nice knives and the size is just right. I'd almost be a little worried that the single-blades would be too slim for my liking.

Here's my latest GEC.

Looks like Ivoryman and I both doubled down on the same American Jacks: Single Blade Smooth White Bone & Single Blade Chestnut Peach Seed Jigged Bone (although for some unknown reason SMKW decided to call it Pennsylvania Peach Seed on their website and on the sales receipt). But, as The Bard famously said, "A knife by any other name still cuts as sweet." (I'm paraphrasing here, but I'm pretty sure it was Shakespeare.)

Nailed it Q, fabulous looking smooth bone, pics don't do it justice. Smooth, sleek, Sassy. Goes good with a wharn. That is one fine looking one-of-a-kind. Kudos.

Received this one in the mail from John (jmh58). It’s the Northfield UN-X-LD 18 in 1095 carbon steel. Great knife I think I am going to slide it into my normal rotation. Thanks John for helping me add to my GEC fixation. ::groove::

Those #18s are sure cute little beggars. Great one to have Ed.

GEC 782217 American Jack Tidioute Smooth White Bone came in today's mail(1-13-18). Excellent. I'm totally satisfied Strong pull but not too strong. Great walk and talk. I'm very pleased with it.

Here's my first pics, of my #78 brothers, and their #14 little brother. Taking good knife pics isn't as easy as looking at other peoples' knife pics! Trying to learn how to use this new/old camera...pics will get better.

Q - I asked a rep at SMKW the same question but I never got an answer. I suspect the knives came out lighter in color than expected, and they didn't want to call them Dark Chestnut as originally planned. Personally I like the lighter color. I'm still ogling at the UN-XLD dark brown bone 78s, but I'm glad I got the SMKW SFO.

So where did the 78 wharnie come from?? Did you mod it yourself or is it a factory special?

Glad to see you got the one I nearly grabbed myself. I had a couple concerns about the symmetry/balance of the handles but I do like how the stag is so well matched from the sides. I imagine it's gonna be just fine once in hand.

This is the one I ended up grabbing (also CK photos):

Beautiful stag pics guys. I got a stag S&M 99 Executive Jack clip blade for Christmas, but I believe it's American elk, not Sambar like yours. Maybe I'll post pics in a S&M thread sometime. Been thinking about grabbing a Sambar knife before it's extinct for sale, but there are plenty on the market for the time being so I'm not in a hurry. Meanwhile... I joined the Club (it was a good Christmas):

Nice work! I guess I've been watching too many videos by Apostle P and the like because I've been fixated on wharncliffes for over a month now. That and the Northwoods craze. I've got wharncliffe on the brain to the point that I've almost convinced myself more than a couple of times to buy a 35 Calf Pen, but I just can't get over the one-arm blade thing. I know it's a historic blade design, but I just can't do it. Just today I was considering (again) getting a 48 improved trapper because of the wharnie, but I'm not feeling it enough to pull the trigger on that either. Your wharnie mod reminds me a lot of the 48 wharnie. Nice to see someone brave (or rich!) enough to mod a brand new GEC. I saw a modded 35 calf pen somewhere a while back, he made a spey/sheepsfoot out of the one-arm blade. Believe me, I've thought of doing it many times... maybe GEC will give us a wharnie in 2018...

Thanks guys. I-Man and ~Q~ buy up all the single blade variations then I come along and scarf up the two blade variations. Works out perfectly.

And you are correct Philip, she was a Safe Queen before she ever landed here. My current carry knife is this old USA Jack (Kingston?).

It's a great pattern Greg, with a very nice compliment of available covers. I considered getting the stag but since I didn't have an Appaloosa bone, I opted for that. As is said, "variety is the spice of life" (just don't get caught).
