Greetings from Colorado
Greetings from Colorado
Good morning,
Attached are pictures of a knife I picked up in the mid 70's in California. The Case Blade looks authentic, but I can't find the exact Case tang marking anywhere like the one on this blade. Was wondering about the blade manufacture date and any other info? Also, to me, it looks maybe like the bone handle and brass hand guard were not case made, but possibly custom crafted onto the blade? Thanks in advance...I appreciate it.

Welcome to AAPK. I don't know the age, but I say you are correct about the handle and guard not being original.

Re: Greetings from Colorado
I'm thinking maybe early 70's on the Davey Crockett 1836 Bowie blade but the handle and guard are most definitely reworked.

Thanks for the confirmation on handle and guard. The Tang Mark still confuses me.gsmith7158 wrote:I'm thinking maybe early 70's on the Davey Crockett 1836 Bowie blade but the handle and guard are most definitely reworked.
Re: Greetings from Colorado
Here is one on ebay with the same tang stamp. Gsmith7158 nailed it when he said a rehandled Davy Crocket bowie.

Welcome to AAPK. It does look like it has been rehandled, but still a nice knife!
