There Stands The Glass was a hit for Webb Pierce in 1953.

Either version is fine with me but I do like that old Honky Tonk stuff.

The Webb Pierce version has always been a favorite with me too. In fact I think I posted it somewhere in this thread several pages back. I have several of his albums, plus a tribute collection of his songs covered by more recent artists, called "Caught in the Webb".

But I like the Ted Hawkins take on it too. Ted was a talented singer and songwriter, and an interesting but sad story if you care to check him out on Wikipedia. Most of what little he recorded is available on YouTube.

LOL.....
That was NOT the perfect country and western song.
He had not mentioned anything about Momma, trains, trucks, prison, or getting drunk.

So, my friend wrote another verse.....

Classic!

One of my favorite David Allen Coe songs. ::tu:: ::tu::

Another of my favorites from the irreverent Mr. Coe.

And then "If That Ain't Country" redux.

Some story telling in this one and a little bit about a pocket knife.

Friend and neighbor Kevin Deal, performing recently at a benefit fund-raiser for the local Volunteer Fire Department, of which he's a member.

Here's a humorous but sad song he wrote about a North Texas truck stop some of you truckers might recognize (Anna, Texas has two truck stops). He was there to meet a friend who was late, and wrote this song based on his observations while waiting.
