Three Custom Fixed Blades

Post by kootenay joe »

For sake of clarity i am making a separate post for each knife.

Dan Graves, Small Utility knife, OAL 7 1/4", Blade: 3 1/4" ball bearing Damascus; Handle 4", sterling silver guard & collar, fossil mammoth tusk.
Dan has friends in Alaska who find & send him pieces of mammoth tusks. This piece has the butt end left as it was when found, and the rest of it Dan polished. It fits my hand very well. It has perfect balance so in hand it feels quite precise, like holding a scalpel.
Price: $140, all inclusive.

Gerald Drew Nessmuk: 8 1/8" OAL, blade 4" ATS-34, 1/8" stock flat grind. Maple handle. I bought this because i thought (and still think) it to be the most attractive Nessmuk pattern knife i had/have seen.
Price: $115, all inclusive.
Please send me a P.M. or email: rprocter@telus.net
thanks again, kj

This one is very hard for me to part with. I bought it in 2008 from Lamont Coombs, the maker who lives in Maine and has been making very fine knives for a few decades now. It is Lamont's take on a Randall # 7 ""Fisherman-Hunter" and it remains on the most attractive knives i have ever seen. It is also finely ground to a sharp, thin cutting edge that deserves cut and get messy.
OAL: 8 3/4" not including pommel nut
Blade: 4 3/4" 52100 ball bearing steel
Handle: 4" stacked leather washers & Box Elder burl, brass guard, aluminum pommel & stainless steel nut.
Price: $260
Please send me a P.M. or email: rprocter@telus.net if interested.
that's all for now,
kj

I just want to comment that those are beautiful blades kj, and I am surprised by the very modest prices. From what I can see the workmanship on those knives is worth considerably more than the asking prices. ::tu::

Thanks QS. I do have high expectations of a custom knife and these 3 makers really understand knife design and knife making. For each knife i watched for months until they posted a knife that i thought to be a 'stand out'.
My prices are certainly below what i paid but that is what is needed to sell a custom knife. Buyers want not only an exceptional knife, but a 'real deal' as well.
