As Steve said, those are fine looking guns.

Here's a couple of old cleaning rods.

Joe, those look a lot like the Marble's match safes. Look to be very well made. The book they rest on is a must have if you have an interest in the rifle. A great reference book for old rifles, scopes, sights and just a good read front to back too. ::tu::

Thank you, Steve.
Yes, these cleaning rods are very well designed and machined. The rods will rotate in the bore.

The book: I haven't looked in that book in years. Your remarks made me look at it again and if someone wanted a bit of education on the rifle get your education here. ::nod::

Most of that group would still be tight at 250 yds, theoretically.

You are right Charlie,
Zero will hold to that distance with this rifle .223 or .556

Getting ready for the upcoming deer season, put a new scope on my old 270 WIN this past week. Need to get to the range soon and zero it with my handload. OH

Thank you Phil. The scope is a Leupold VX-6, 2-12x42mm CDS. It is a Euro style with 30mm tube. I traded for it from a buddy last week; they are on close-out right now, superseded by the identical HD version by Leupold. Check out Euro Optics on-line if you have an interest. OH

Thanks Bruce. That one's a little rich for my pocket book. I have a VX-1 in 3x9 mounted on my Remington 700. I need to get it sighted in. To date, the gun has never been fired. ::facepalm::

Traded for this 2009 Browning X-Bolt,30-06 last week -- today,I got it scoped with a Nikon 2.5X10X42 Monarch,bore-sighted, and will take it to the range next week __ my biggest challenge each year is deciding which rifle to take opening morning of deer season ::dang::

Bruce that model 70 is a real ""BEAUTY"" --- was trying to trade for a 1968 Winchester 70 in 308,before I ran up on this Browning** :) ( may still take another look at it ?? )

Nice new Browning Monk! I thought you were going to hunt with the Browning BAR for this season's opening day? I've been tinkering around with buying a 95% condition 30-06 SPRG BAR that was made in 1967 - it's been in a local pawnshop for several months now. Not sure if I should do it or not - really don't need another 30-06 (or another rifle) but I do have several spare Leupold's..........heck, blackpowder starts tomorrow and I'm going fishing!

Cam, I see no value in them except making a big loud fireball.
Without a buttstock I can't hit anything. I much prefer the full sized rifle or carbine!
