Blade cleaned up real nice
Tang stamps hide more than they reveal.

Platts Bros. Union NY? Either that or Schatt & Morgan. Probably wrong but that's my best guess.

A lot of companies made a coke bottle hunter. One guess would be as good as another without any other evidence. ::shrug::

That rat tail bolster should be a "tell".

However, I'm not sure the blade is original to the knife. Definitely been repinned.

You might be right Mike. The shield was used by Platts Bros along with many others, but researching old Coke bottle pattern, I found the old Platts Bros. frame pattern to match this old knife identically. Thanks Guys

New York Knife was very fond of big Cokes with a steel, rat-tail head bolster and a NSL tail bolster. Normally the tail bolsters are flat though. Is the tail bolster steel or nickel silver?
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

NYK did have rat-tail bolsters but the blades had long pulls and no nail nick.Empire had a lockback hunter that had a rat-tail bolster and barehead on the other end.I don't know if they made a regular folding hunter or not.
I ' m with Charlie, the master could be a replacement.

A highly likely possibility.
