Douk Douk - Anyone use wooden handles and reuse the blade and spring?

I have a weakness for the spear point knives and recently bought a new Douk Douk squirrel. It is kind of the definition of a utility knife. The thing is French-made and simplicity itself. Blade/backspring/rivets/handle(s)/bail. I like the carbon steel blade, but I found myself wondering if anyone has replaced the handle/handles, which are stamped and folded steel. I can imagine this knife as a slip-joint with a handles. It would probably be cost prohibitive, but has anyone done this or had this done? Curious.

It's pretty thin and you'd probably want liners of some sort anyway so you might just glue wood covers on the sides. The handle wraps around the backspring and I think it's necessary to hold it in place.

there is lot of customization with douk-douk : this is a cheap knive easy to change (blade shape, handle and so on)
