Winchester Gunstock

Post by kootenay joe »

There is a 'never used', 'vintage' Winchester 2 blade Gunstock knife listed on ebay that does not look correct to me.
I do not know Winchester well but the bone jigging does not look like what i have seen on Winchester knives. Also pattern # looks like 1953 which indicates a single blade knife as it begins with "1".
It just does not 'look right' for a vintage knife.
I'd like to hear what the experienced AAPK'ers have to say about it.

I`m certainly not a Winchester guy either, but the knife looks to have been apart & probably rehandled. Not a very good job of putting it back together. Bill

Another case of looks new because it is new. Nothing old or Winchester about it.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

KJ, I',m note an expert on old Winchesters but my opinion is that at the very least it has been heavily cleaned and spent a lot of time on a buffer. I just don't believe it's an original Winchester/ ::shrug:: Terry
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Thanks Terry. I think Wayne summed it up quite clearly: "Nothing old or Winchester about it".
This knife has a 'look' to it that brings to mind other 'mint' 2 blade folders that are commonly seen fakes.
