Help With Age of this Robeson

Post by Paladin »

Here is another knife I got in a recent estate-type buy.
This is a nice Robeson hunting knife but I can't determine the approx age.
I'd appreciate any info on the age of this hunting knife.
Charlie, are you out there?

Ray, I've never been much interested in Robeson straight knives, other than those made for the military during WWII and I've sold all those I had.

A rough date range would be 1948 to 1960, but given that simple ROBESON tang stamp with no "ShurEdge" included, I'm thinking it should have a later start date.

How much later? I have no idea.

That's the same aluminum pommel they used on knives circa WWII.

Also, somewhere in there they stopped using stacked and compressed leather washers for handles and went with their own manufactured "ShurWood" or Paccawood and some colored composites, so I think that might move it a bit more away from WWII.

I think "mid to late 50's" would be accurate, though.
