Case & Case related knives over 100 years old
I thought some folks might like to see the really old Case and Case Related Co. knives. I am posting a group picture of some old knives that fit this bill. The dates are approximate, not sure anyone really knows. This picture of course does not include all of the Case and Case related companies.
There is a huge diversity among these old knives. To me that is one of the things that make them such an interesting part of history.
I am sure the folks here would love to see some of these knives that other members have in their collection. Looking forward to seeing some of them posted!!

What a FANTASTIC display OD! WOW these are all some great knives! The Kane Cutlery champagne knife is really superb, as is the lovely stag barlow. Thanks for sharing these rare lovelies.

Simply wonderful Mr. Tom. Those are real nice. I especially like the one with the big sheepsfoot and the swayback frame.

Tom, you might need to consider changing your user name to "oldercase" Those are some very nice knives and it's impressive the breadth of the old pre-tested stamps that are represented.
Unlike Tom, my knives are not well organized, labeled, and collected into a single picture. Here are some of my oldies pictured individually. A couple of interesting things to note on these older Case knives is that the shields will frequently be blank and it is common for all the blades to be stamped, including a pattern number.
Tom, did I see a Red Winterbottom bone WR 45 in your group? I was glad to see it - I have one but had not seen another. I have seen WR 45's in Rogers bone a few times.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Case & Case related knives over 100 years old
Thanks for the compliments - even the "Tom & Jerry" references . Bumping the thread to see if it encourages any of you other Case knife collectors to post pictures of your pre-Tested era knives.
This is a WR Case & Sons 6376 1/2 split backspring whittler in Rogers bone. This knife has the oval shield with "CASE" lettering which deviates from the blank shields in the preceding pictures. The mini clip secondary blade is unusual based on my Tested 76 examples which have a small coping or sheepsfoot blade instead of this mini clip blade. The tangs on the secondary blades on this knife look like they might be reshaped near the choil area.
I am interested to know if anyone has an opinion about the blade configuration on this knife and whether it would be expected on a whittler in general and on a Case 76 in particular.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Case & Case related knives over 100 years old
Jerry, that whittler you've posted is another stunner! The old Rogers bone is beautiful. As to your question about the blade configuration, it's the only pre-tested 76 pattern I've seen so can't comment other than to say its the same as the 83 whittler two-clips-and-a-pen blade configuration, which also dates to pre-Tested era. So from that standpoint at least it's not unprecedented.
I'd post some of my pre-Tested Cases but after what's been on this thread already by you and Tom, it's a hard act to follow - I'd be embarrassed.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.
Here is one that shows a lot of usage but is still rare in my opinion. A 5375 W R Case & Sons stag stockman 1905-14.
Thanks for looking!
