Case Classic? Lockback Whittler help please!

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Case Classic? Lockback Whittler help please!

Post by dagunrunner »

Hey Guys,
Long time reader but 1st time poster here. Have been "accumulating" knives all my life but have narrowed my interest to Case so I can focus on more of a true collection than accumulation. Well, enough rambling. I am hoping someone can help me identify this knife. I have searched high and low online and just can't find anything on it. As shown in the pics, it is a cigar whittler with double spring lockback main blade. Tang stamps lead me to believe it is a classic but don't see this shield or exact pattern on any sites.

Thanks in advance for the help and Happy New Year!

Gun Runner, I wish I could help you with your knife but I'm not a Case guy. I can however welcome you to AAPK. I hope to "see your face" around here with some regularity. Happy New Year.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am bummed to learn that it is a fake but I am intrigued.
Can anyone shed any light on these? Are these counterfeited overseas? The fit and finish are actually very nice so I am surprised. Thanks again.

Gunrunner, can you give me the overall length of this knife? Also from the end of knife to the center of the lockback cutout. From either end is fine.

The overall length is 4 1/8". It is 1 1/2" from the tip of the bolster to the center of the lockback cutout from the main blade end.

Thanks again!!

Shearer, your are right. The knives are eerily similar. Did Frost ever make anything for Case?

I would not know if Frost made knives for Case.
All I could say is someone could see a big profit in making the knife as most Case lockback whittlers sell for $400 plus as for Frost they are flat out getting a bid on ebay.
