Here is a nice Craftsman stockman I got a few weeks ago.
It is the only one I have seen without the Kent name on the knife.
It may have been an early one with a Kent blade etch which is no longer visible.
With orginial sheath-

Re: The Other Brands
Those are both really nice Dale! I have never seen the early Sportsman fixed blade before.
Love all Jacks
Re: The Other Brands
I just got this and I'm not sure if it's Camillus made or Schrade. Either way it's in fantastic shape, about 3.7/8" long. Very good snap etc
I can see evidence of pins on both ends[barely]
If anybody can me tell if it's a Camillus or Schrade?
Thanks, Producer.

This Barlow is just marked High Carbon Steel USA, from what I can find made for department stores.
Re: The Other Brands
I have been searching for this topic, but couldn't remember the title.
Think I will make it a sticky for a while.
Here is a nice A. W. Wadsworth & Sons Germany I picked up recently. The rear tang of the master blade is stamped XLNT. According to the Kastor List it was made circa 1905-1936.
It is a single spring penknife, 2-3/4" in length with great snap on both blades. I think it is tortoise shell celluloid and not real tortoise, but I have not been able to get the typical smell of celluloid when doing the rub test, but I still think it is celluloid. It is has remarkably full blades and is excellent condition for such an old one.

It looks a lot like one of my Camillus fixed blades too.
They may very well be the same pattern, or at least very close.
I will have to take a pic of the Kent & the Camillus side by side.

Re: The Other Brands
WOW! I love the congress with the screwdriver/wire stripper blade and a punch!
I have never seen the blade combination in that knife in a congress, maybe in a scout/camper but not a congress.
I like the unique shape oh the screwdriver blade also.
Cool knife, and I usually don't like a congress.

Re: The Other Brands
Dale, I have a couple 6 blade congress knives I've posted on AAPK before, and I believe the odd blade is a box opener with a nail puller for pulling the nail from a cigar box. The blade on mine is too thin to turn a screw, and I collect box openers besides knives, and that blade closely resembles some of my box openers. ___Daveorvet wrote:WOW! Re: The Other Brands
These are all knives made by Adolph Kastor and his brothers. They started in 1876 making knives which include the posted knives and Camillus knives. They had dozens of brands. TJ posted a link to the list of them at the beginning of this thread. Here is is http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/knifewor ... orlist.pdf
