Any CSC Cannitler collectors out there? (PICTURE THREAD)

Former Schrade President Walley Gardner and principal Joe Hufnagel joined with nine master cutlers to form a group of US craftsmen with over 300 years of combined knife making experience to create Canal Street Cutlery. It was first located in upstate New York where a long and rich tradition of quality knife making dates back to the 19th century. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in 2015, but not before making some great knives. The brand was resurrected in 2018 as Canal Street Cutlery Co-Op & focused on making very small batches of high quality traditional knives. As a Co-Op, it was owned by the knife makers who worked there. Unfortunately, the business model couldn't hold up & the entity again ceased production.

here is mine,NIB, with two other NIB's and a mint/near mint sunset bone muskrat
my Cannitler has no spacer between back springs like most whittlers, as photo shows
I like the folks at CS and I lived in that part of NY for over 30 years, just don't like the shield
I passed all the old Walden factories and waterfalls and passed the imperial Scharde plant in Ellenville hundreds of times
too bad I was not a collector till a year ago
most folk here say GEC is better knife and one post says Queen made contract knives for CS
here is what CS told me; Dear Mickey,

All of Canal Street’s knives are made in Ellenville. When the business first started we were buying parts from Queen. That was only for the first couple years. Perhaps that is where the confusion is. Thanks for the inquiry.

Best regards,

Jean Kogut

Mickey you've got a nice looking batch of Canal Street knives there. ::tu::

I know some folks claim that the GEC knives are superior to Canal Street, but I own both and honestly don't agree. They are, in my opinion, very comparable in quality. I'd liken the debate to the never ending Ford, Chevy, Dodge "disagreement".

Here are some pictures of my Cannitler. It is one of my carry knives. This is a very well made knife in my opinion. When I rub my fingers over the surfaces everything is smooth... no snags, no rough edges. Blades open and close tightly, but not too tightly, and the snap is "snappier" than I was expecting.

From reading through the thread, I can see there are some Canal Street fans. I count myself as a fan based on my small sample size (1 knife). :)

Sorry to rain on your parade fellas.....Canal Street has discontinued the Cannitler. What you have is what there is, unless you can find someone willing to part with their Cannitler. CSC will no longer be making these gems and they have discontinued the Ring Turn and a couple others as well!

The Swell Center Jack is another that has been discontinued....Sorry Phil!

Sad but maybe this will make room for some new patterns!

It's a shame I tell ya. :(

Tom do you know if they are planning to continue making the congress pattern ? I haven't seen any new ones in a good while now, and I'm starting to wonder about them too.

I've got a dozen Canal Street knives but only 1 Cannitler in White Buffalo Mica. Pretty sweet looking design in my opinion.

I bought a couple of knife club Cannitlers recently at bargain prices that had undesirable (IMO) handles. I had them re-handled and here is how they turned out. I like them both, but am very pleased with the stag example. These will make their way into my pocket occasionally because the Cannitler is a pocket friendly pattern.
