Re: Tang Stamps Charts

I recently purchase a Remington R5 on eBay and it's a UMC with Remington in a straight font which would make it 1924-1933. My questions is I read where another company was making Remington's but reusing some of the older stamps, how I be sure of the age?
Thank you!

TJ,
Here are pictures of mine. If anyone can tell me theses are 1925-1933 instead of a repro by Camillus 1982-present I would be so happy. Not to say that a Camillus isn't another great name in cutlery I would just prefer it to be an original.
Thanks~

Miller,
Thank you for confirming my suspicions, so I'm assuming it's from the 80's? Oh well it can still be a nice EDC. It just looked too knew and the blade steel didn't look very old. Lesson learned!
Thanks for the reply!

I find it interesting that this stamp never shows up in the definitive CASE tang stamp guides.
Been told it was 1903-1905.

Welcome to AAPK. ::tu::

Please post a picture or scan of the tang stamp.
It is really hard to visualize a tang stamp from a verbal description unless it is really common & most folks are familiar with it.

Are there any words, letters or numbers with this pictorial tang stamp?
They could prove to be helpful in identifying the knife.

Here's one I got at my grandfather's, regarding the Winchester Repo's. He said the metal handled Winchester knives were made by Utica, all the rest were made at the Queen factory. They aren't tangs exactly, but they mention the tang stamp, and is still good info to have for these.

Anyone have a 'super-spy-decoder-ring' that can make sense of all the numbers on the back side of this 1946-1956 Imperial equal end jack?

As usual, I've come to the right place for all my knife related questions. You guys amaze me with the sheer amount of cumulative knowledge y'all have at your fingertips. I can't thank you enough for sharing it so willingly (and also for being so patient with me). This thread in particular is a veritable gold mine of information.

Cheers & Aloha,

I'm looking for info on the "Whale" tang stamp, (Solingen I think?). I looked, but couldn't find it listed on this thread. I've seen it here on AAPK, but can't seem to find it now, any info would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.
