Birthday List
Hi everyone,
I want to get some feedback from the members here about turning on the birthday list feature. Basically what it is would be a list at the bottom of the page listing a members birthday for that given day. There is already a feature in your profile page where you can list your birthday if you so desire it is not required however.
If you choose to list your birthday on your profile page this will be used when your birthday comes up for the list at the bottom of the page.
Other knife web sites have this very feature and I was wondering if you members here wanted this as well. I will make this a Poll so you can vote and what ever is decided in the next two weeks will be done. Bryan has given me the go ahead if you all want to do this.
For those who do not know how to list their birthday, click on User Control Panel at the top of the page, then click on Profile there you will see the drop down boxes for the month, day, year. For the people who do not want to give out their exact day of birth just leave that box off or choose "1".
Place your vote yea or nay

Re: Birthday List
I participate in an outdoor forum here in Florida, FOHAF and there is a guy that posts a birthday wish for everybody on the forum that supplied their birth date to the forum. His postings are noticed by others and we wish each other happy birthdays as we notice his posts. Participation is about like what happens here in the Member Introductions thread, not a lot of folks participate. It shows up in the Active Topics. Kinda' neat idea, I'd like to find out when Jerryd's real birthday is, for some reason I thought it was 10 November, same as USMC birthday !
I'll vote yes.

Not to throw a wet blanket on things here but in this day of identity theft is it really a good idea to post this sort of personal information ?

Phil, over more than six years as a member of this forum and in excess of 8k posts, piece by tiny piece you have divulged a heck of a lot more personal information than just your birthday.

Real world Phil is just about any personal info is available online these days, the least you have to worry about is your birthday.
Look here: http://www.birthdatabase.com/query.php one of many examples and this is free info the more you pay the more you find out.
Like I said in the OP, if you don`t want the day disclosed use a different day or leave blank.
Thanks to those who took the time to vote on this

Jerry I do believe that's what they call "double trouble". Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Birthday List
Phil, to figure this one you have to use a logarithmic equation so it's actually more than "double trouble".

Re: Birthday List
Here you go.jerryd6818 wrote:Phil, to figure this one you have to use a logarithmic equation so it's actually more than "double trouble".
Solve 2logb(x) = logb(4) + logb(x – 1)
All of these logs have the same base, but I can't solve yet, because I don't yet have "log equals log". So first I'll have to apply log rules:
2logb(x) = logb(4) + logb(x – 1)
logb(x2) = logb((4)(x – 1))
logb(x2) = logb(4x – 4)
Then:
x2 = 4x – 4
x2 – 4x + 4 = 0
(x – 2)(x – 2) = 0
The solution is x = 2.
