Hello Guys,

I'm a friend of Mr. Galvanic1882 and don't post on here much (OK, this is my first time) , but when I saw all these
great photos of our new JBF Champlin Eureak Jacks that you guys have been posting, I just had to throw in
my 2 cents worth.

That's Derek? Hey Derek, when y'all gonna talk GEC into building a two blade English Jack on that 65 frame? It's the correct length already. Fancy up the bolsters, add another blade, some premium handle material and you have yourself a winner. ::super_happy:: ::ds::

Jerry, couldn't agree more. Been wanting them to do the #65 with a 2/3 length sheepsfoot up front.

Yeah, what you said Trevor. Sheepsfoot secondary blade and Spear main blade, fancied up bolsters, Rogers type jigged bone handles, a really neat old time shield and something stamped into the bottom bolster (GEC? UN-X-LD?)

Edit: Let's not forget a nice heavy swedge on both blades.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I'm glad you like the knives and the photo.
I'm posting a variation of the picture that a friend asked me to make.
Not sure which one I prefer.

As far as the #65 you've described, that would be a sweet knife for sure.

Cheers!

Derek

I was lucky enough to contact Mike in time to reserve one of the Eureka's in stag, and met him yesterday to pick it up and chat knives for a few minutes.
First, the knife, as you guys have all seen, it's terrific! I'm now officially spoiled on stag, my Eureka is the nicest I have (and I thought my little Hubertus was gnarly, wow). Second, the fit and finish is A+ top notch, with the wrap around spring being the icing on the cake, err knife :D The presentation is fantastic too, and I love the blade key as I have a couple GEC's and Schatt's that my thumbnail could use a little help.

It was great to meet Mike, and turns out we were acquainted with each other from awhile back, what a small world! He brought his rosewood handled Eureka to show me, those of you who have picked up either know it's a great knife, but the rosewood is truly special.

Thank you Mike for meeting up with me! The knife arrived just in time for my birthday, though when I brought it home to show my wife, she quickly whisked it off to wrap it up(!) Thankfully I won't have to wait long, and my Eureka will definitely be going in my pocket for special occasions.

Finally, thanks to Mike and Derek for getting these special knives made. It seems that I fell back into collecting during one of the best times ever for classic style American made pocket knives.
Cheers,
Griff

Trand,

Thanks for posting the photo of all 5 Eurekas!
Looks like you got a terrific set of scales on your stag knife.

I've been thinking about buying one of the Tidioutes to carry, do you have
a favorite?

Griff,... That's just crazy that you and Mike bumped into each other again!
Great story!

Hi Derek,
I originally only planned to get the ebony Tidioute but these are all very nice. Can't say I have a favorite.

Well, I'm no expert (as you can tell by the number of posts I have here!) but I do think you would get used to one of these Eurekas. Personally, I think they are a comfortable size, not overly thick.

Hi everyone, I believe that most of you know that we have been hoping that GEC would make more knives for us but that has not happened. So it was a pleasant surprise when I received this note from Bill Howard in an email.

"Mike,
We recently ran some #92 pattern knives.
While doing so I cleaned out the #92 designated cabinet in assembly to
put together any leftover inventory of previous #92 runs.
I had quite a few parts for the JBF Champlin knife we previously made
for you and I put them together and finished them also.
Here is what I made in JBF.
15pcs. 2bld with East India Rosewood handles. "THESE ARE THE KNIVES I HAVE FOR SALE"
1pc. 1bld. Spear East India Rosewood handle.
1pc. 2bld. Original Rosewood handle provided by you.
All with correct shield but no blade engraving.
Would you like them?

After reading this of course we bought them and then had JBF put on the main blade. It's a deep engraving as you can see from the pictures.

The knife will come in one of the boxes we used for the original Eureka plus a wiping cloth, trade card the one that we included with the short run of Electric Cutlery knives, a certificate stating that the knife is 1 of only 15, plus 2 of the original handles that I found at the old Cattaraugus factory. We are including the handles just in case people want to replace the handles on the knife. Right now I only have a few knives left so if you are interested please get back to me ASAP.

I would prefer an email at galvanic1882@yahoo.com, for some reason I am not getting an alert when a PM is sent through the site.

Thanks Mike

I have never seen one for sale either. When Bill contacted me that he had these made from the remaining parts of the Eureka run Derek and I were very happy. Only 13, 2 bladed ones with wooden handles, not the old Cattaraugus Rosewood and 1 single blade. But the one that I was most happy to get was a 2 bladed knife with the old Catt Rosewood handles.

Below is a picture of 3 knives, The single bladed one is the only one made and the 2 blade deep laser engraved JBF is the only one with the old Catt handles. The knife deep laser engraved GALVANIC was from the first run and is what I call a sterile knife. There is no serial number on it. GEC sometimes etches these prototype but they are not really just overruns.

I would buy any and all JBF Champlin knives back that I can find.
