French Kate

Post by Gunstock Jack »

From what you can see on GEC's website, French Kate looks like it could be a Leg Knife. ::paranoid:: I wonder if you can open a bottle with the shoe?

Barry, I believe you might be on to somethin' - a leg knife would fit right in with Ole Kate's rep, and the handles on that sample pic appear to be narrowin' down pretty quick …

I think you've nailed it. ::tu::

Ditto Barry. Not big on fuchsia jigged bone for some reason. I thought the 72 American Elk would be this week and before the French Kate? ::shrug::

I honestly expected something a little more.... different than that. ::smirk::

::paranoid:: I don't know though... maybe it would be great in the pocket, ::barf:: although it would be strange having kate's leg in my pocket. :shock:

100 burnt stag works out to one knife for every 70 AAPK members, not to mention the thousands of other knife collectors who aren't with AAPK.
I do agree, however, that 100 is far more than they have been turning out in any one run of any one pattern's single handle material.
I'm thinking that this pattern will not be repeated, or at least maybe not be repeated for a long time, so they decided to satisfy some future interest with the large number.
Frankly, I don't know why they don't increase the numbers of serialized and unserialized knives on the more popular patterns and handles.
They only put out 25 serialized of the new #72 big spear burnt stag lockback and they quickly disappeared.
The primitive bone of the same pattern was gone before it even hit the dealers stores.
Anyway, I'm a buyer of French Kate.
She's fun, she's practical(I need a pocket bottle opener that doesn't even need to be opened to use), and she's quite the conversation piece.
Down the road, Kate may turn out to be a much sought after one-hit-wonder.

Best,
Stephen ::sneaky::
