Real or fake???

Kershaw began its foray into the knife business sometime during 1974. The company was originally based in Portland Oregon, but most early knives were manufactured in Japan. The first US manufacturing plant was opened in 1997 & the company currently offers knives made in the U.S., Japan, & China. Pete Kershaw (an ex Gerber salesman) started the business.

Real or fake???

Post by RedRaiderRick »

I've been looking for a ZT 0456tiblu for some time and one just popped on ebay. You guys think it's real? Price is high but it was a limited edition.

The blue seems dull compared to the anodized original.

Out of stock at Blade HQ, but for comparison-

Thanks for the quick reply. The ebay version does look more like the Blade HQ pic. It's been out of stock a long time at GPK. I shot the seller a PM with questions and more pics.

I made offers up to $276 which were rejected. I think that's more than original retail.

I made a final offer. My concern is no pics of actual knife on the listing. Says he has 3, only 1 unwrapped. This one is still wrapped. I emailed him and said I would require pics before purchase.

So to close this issue, I emailed the guy and said I would require pics of the actual knife and assurance that it was functional and not damaged before I transacted. If he was not agreeable to those terms to reject my offer, which he did. I don't know if my offer was too low but it was listed as OBO price. Maybe the guy is a member here and can clarify? My terms seemed reasonable to me.

I got a surprise update from ebay on this ZT knife. The seller Made a counter offer but has not posted pictures as requested or promised. It's starting to seem sketchy at this point.

I feel like if you are questioning it this hard and the seller won’t comply that it’s a sign to pass on this one.

Yet another last minute surprise. The seller provided pictures of the actual knife with a drop in price so I pulled the trigger. Hopefully I won't get burned but the pictures and the lower price were enough for me. fingers crossed. I've been watching this knife On GP knives since before it was discontinued.

The ZT 0456TIBLU arrived today. It's massive and heavy. I dont have my calipers with me but im betting blade thickness is 0.15 inches

The ZT0456TIBLU arrived today and seems legit. Nothing seems to indicate a fake.

I spent some time this week talking to GPKnives about this knife. All weights, measurements, box, and labels check out. My primary concern was that the color is less brilliant than their pics. He told me they often use Windex to clean knives to bring out the color, so I will try that. GPK has great customer service BTW.

Also, this is my first post as a Supporting Member! Figured since I spend so much time here I better give back.
