Sheath for a hay rake tine forged knife

Post by Rossr »

This is a donation piece for a car show the cub and boy scouts run by us. I didn't have a lot of time so I quick forged this blade out of a old hay rake tine and then made up a sheath. Sheath I doubled layered the back so I could leave a slit between for the belt. Then added the black front. Did some stamping and lined the front with deer skin.

Always open to thoughts

I really like the knife. I did a little bit of blacksmithing several years ago at my Dad's forge (was his Grandfather's), and I can appreciate that it is harder than it looks!
The sheath is VERY awesome. The overall design is unique to that knife, and the stamping really sets it off beautifully.

A++!

Very nice finished product. Reminds me of a muzzle loading patch knife that I had years ago (bought not made).

Cool knife. The handle reminds me of the striker for a flint and steel. Is that intentional?

Mel ,

No it wasn't intentional but it could be done foe the use for sure. Never thought about it before. I've made a few strikers over the years too
